You can make key rings, figures, jewellery etc.
These hollow strings can be threaded with wire to make
them bendable. The string can then be wound round a
pencil a few times to make a colorful spiral.
Here we show four different techniques which can also
be used for tying figures or other decorations.
If plaiting a key ring you can tie a carbine hook or
key ring into the first knot.

3-string technique, round
|
- Tie the strings together into a knot.
- Place the first string over the second, forming
a loop, repeat with the second string.
- Put the 3rd string through the first loop.
- Carefully pull tight.

4-string technique, round
|
- Tie one string over the other.
- Place the first string over the second, forming
a loop, repeat with strings 2 and 3.
- Put the 4th string in the first loop.
- Carefully pull tight.

4-string technique, square and plait with bead
|
- Tie one string over the other as shown in 4-string
technique, round. Fold string 1 and 3 as shown in
the picture.
- Thread strings 2 and 4 through the opposite loop.
Carefully pull tight.
- Tie as in figure 1 and 2. Place a pencil over the
last knot. Tie a new knot over the pencil, pull tight.
Tie some more knots before removing the pencil.
- Put a bead in the hole.
